Welcome to the YACCA page

YACCA (Youth And Community in Conservation Action) is an environmental youth group in Willunga, that teaches young people about environmental projects and issues in their local community. YACCA has educated its members on the basic principles of natural land restoration and enables its members to design, construct and maintain the projects they work on.

YACCA is a platform where kids and teenagers can learn about the environment, where it should be taught- in the environment.
It is a means to connect kids to community groups in way where they don’t feel inadequate, but appreciated members and most importantly it is a place where their contribution is valued.

Meetings run weekly out of the Willunga Environment Centre, with groups meeting on both Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

Members have been on camps to Arid Recovery, Cape Otway and Ngarkat Conservation Park, as well as been on excursions to the Aldinga Washpool, Monarto Zoo for leadership training, Stipiturus Conservation Park, Aldinga reef, and surveyed local plovers at local beaches. YACCA has also revegetated local areas, surveyed flora and fauna, sampled macro-invertebrates and worked with council to revegetate a local creek line.
